It also gives you a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.
Here are some tips to help you prepare for and improve your PSAT score:
Know the test format and content
Familiarize yourself with the test format and content by reviewing the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide and taking practice tests. You can find the Student Guide and practice tests on the College Board website.
Understand the scoring
Each section of the PSAT/NMSQT is scored on a scale of 20 to 80. Your total score is the sum of your section scores. To get an idea of how you might score on the test, check out the PSAT/NMSQT Score Converter.
Develop a study plan
Use your practice test results to identify your strengths and weaknesses. Then, create a study plan that focuses on the areas where you need to improve.
Get plenty of rest and exercise
Get plenty of rest and exercise leading up to the test. This will help you stay focused and alert on test day.
Be prepared on test day
Arrive at the test center well-rested and with everything you need, including your admission ticket, photo ID, and calculator.
