The US midterm elections were held in November, and generated a huge amount of discussion on Twitter.
More than 21 million tweets were sent about the elections, making it the most tweeted-about event in US political history.
The most popular moment of the election came when the Democrats regained control of the House of Representatives, with more than 3.4 million tweets sent about the result.
Other top Twitter moments from the midterm elections include the moment when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez became the youngest woman ever elected to Congress (1.8 million tweets), and when Beto O’Rourke conceded the Texas Senate race to Ted Cruz (1.6 million tweets).
The death of Stan Lee
The death of Stan Lee, the co-creator of Marvel Comics, in November prompted an outpouring of grief on Twitter.
More than 5.8 million tweets were sent about Lee, with the most popular moment coming when Marvel Studios announced that its upcoming film, “Avengers: Endgame,†would be dedicated to the late comic book legend.
